How is hospice paid for?

Hospice services are covered under Medicare Part A, Medicaid and most private insurances. This benefit covers the Hospice Team’s services, medications, supplies and equipment related to the patient’s life-limiting illness. Southern Grace Hospice will never refuse a patient because of an inability to pay.

  • Are eligible for Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
  • Are certified by their doctor and hospice medical director as having a life expectancy of six months of less if the disease runs its normal course
  • Sign a statement electing hospice care

  • Nurses specially trained in disease and symptom management to make routine and emergency visits 24 hours a day

  • Social Workers to help patients and families cope with emotional and financial stress the life-limiting illness may cause
